Dr. Arti Gill

Dr. Nanette Kuswa

This is Dr. Kuswa's second career.  For five years she worked as a clothing buyer before following her dream of becoming a Veterinarian.  She received a BS in Zooloogy and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis in 1987.  During her stay at Davis, her husband (Verne) lived in Southern California.  They fell in love with Visalia while commuting through the central valley and decided to make this their permanent home.  After serving a two year internship in emergency medicine.  Dr. Kuswa worked at various practices in this area until starting her own practice, Companion Animal Medical Center in 1999.  She is proud to work with the dogs of Tulare County Sheriff Department., Tulare County Police Department, and Visalia Police Department.  Also she is very passionate about her role with the Valley Oak SPCA in their quest to improve the plight of homeless animals in this community.
Dr. John Cardwell

Dr. John Cardwell received his DVM degree from UC Davis in 1985.  Before this he had specialized in cell bilogy, having earned a Master's degree from Purdue University in Indiana.  His area of special interest in our private practice is reptile medicine.  He has always had a special interest in these fascinating creatures and enjoys helping people keep them as healthy & happy as possible.  Dr. Cardwell has been married to his wife, Beth, since 1977 (yes, that's more than 30 years!)  He has two grown children whose interests reside primarily in the arts.  He is an active member of Grace Community Church in Visalia.  He has one dog, three cats, and one snake (a rosy boa).  His interests outside of work include astronomy, playing the cello and singing in the church choir, bowling, reading, and spending time with his family.
